1st Annual Olympia Chapter
 Fashion Show

"For the Love of Sewing"

Sew Expo - February 28, 2010 - 12:30 p.m.

Excitement and Anticipation are in the air!

We are getting close to our first opportunity to showcase the sewing and fiber arts skills of the Olympia Chapter of the American Sewing Guild at the the premier sewing show in America - Sew Expo!.  Olympia Chapter members are invited (and encouraged) to submit up to 2 entries for the fashion show.  The categories are:  Clothing, Home Dec, Quilts, Accessories, Knit/Crochet and don't forget those Aprons.  You can enter anything you have made using any method - garment sewing, art to wear, quilts, knitted/crocheted  items.

If you aren't planning to enter an item in the show but still want to participate, there are plenty of assistant openings available.  We need behind the scenes help with getting models dressed, on stage at the right time, some make-up and hair assistance and calming the nerves.  We also need people out front to hand out brochures and answer questions about ASG.  Please email Millie James (majic482323@aol.com)  if you are interested in helping behind the scenes.

Everyone who wants to enter an item in the show MUST complete an entry form for each item.  Get the form here in either Word or PDF.  You must submit your entry form by February 10, 2010.

If you can open the Word document on your computer you can complete the form on your computer and email it to Sue Langley (email address is on the form).  If you don't have Word, or can't open the document on your computer, the use a print-out of the PDF file and send it in the mail.

This opportunity is a great way to showcase our chapter and gain new members.  With all the talent in our chapter we know this will be a great event and a FUN time for us all.

Special Classes and Programs

To:  All Dog Bed Scrap Contributors:
From:  Tammy Morris

Please be advised that I am no longer making dog beds, or accepting scrap fabric.  Was a good idea, snowballed on me, and became overwhelming.  I have tried to convey I cannot do this anymore, but I feel I am not being listened to.

There are many winds of change coming to my husband and myself. Due to his changing job, our changing lifestyle, and where we want me to go with my sewing, I do not have the time to process dog beds.

If someone else wants to take on this community sewing, I have piles of whole material, and garbage cans of cut up material I can turn over.  Also, I do have some contact information of rescues that take these items.

I know some will be disappointed with the change of events, and my commitments; however, as my husband and I are still young, change comes with life.  Please accept that I have done all I can at this time.

 Thank you.

 Tammy
